The Cathedral is fortunate to have many social outreach ministries where parishioners can put Catholic Social Teaching into action. Brown Bag Lunches – A team of parishioners meet once a month to make 120 brown bag lunches for distribution to those in need through the services of the Catholic Action Center.
Building a United Interfaith Lexington through Direct Action - BUILD is a coalition of churches and faith based organizations that work strategically to identify, assess, and address social justice issues that impact our community, particularly those who are marginalized and disenfranchised.
Catholic Action Center (CAC) – CAC provides food, shelter, clothing, toiletries, connections to social service agencies, and daily prayer services for the marginalized and homeless in Lexington.
Christians in Community Service (CCS) – A team of parishioners who work remotely by accessing a dedicated phone line to take calls from social workers, record details, and match needs with CCS resources. Additional team members needed!
Hope Center –Parishioners meet once a month at the Hope Center to serve food and deserts to the homeless and at-risk.
Respect Life – Ministry committed to solidarity in supporting life from conception to natural death by educating our parish and by participating in prayer vigils, community ministries (such as Birthright, Opportunities for Life, and Project Rachel) and other related activities and events.
St. Vincent de Paul – Parishioners serve those in need by making face-to-face home visits to distribute food and clothing vouchers. Some serve at a grocery store providing accessible shopping for those at the related assisted living facility.
Seasonal Ministries
CRS Rice Bowl – A Lenten faith formation activity that calls for individuals to pray, fast and sacrifice personally for the sake of feeding the hungry and helping the needy through Catholic Relief Services.
Giving Tree –An Advent/Christmas ministry focused on providing necessary items and grocery cards for people in need in our community.
