Volunteers: Be trained and commissioned to supplement the priests and deacons in distributing the Precious Body and Blood of our Lord at Sunday and Holy Day Masses. Also assist in cleaning sacred vessels following Mass.
Commitment: Two hours for initial training. You serve at the Mass you plan on attending each weekend. Currently this is an unscheduled ministry meaning that all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should check in the sacristy about 10-15 minutes before Mass to see if a sufficient number of ministers are signed up. Don't assume that others will do this. Check each time!

DISTRIBUTION OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD IS RETURNING WITH ADVENT!!
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER FOR HOLY COMMUNION TRAINING
We need YOU!
On November 27, 2022, the First Day of Advent we will bring back the precious Blood for those who would like to receive. The school will start at a later date. Please remember that we believe in the doctrine of concomitance, we receive the fullness of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist weather it is in the Precious Blood of salvation or a large or fractured piece of scared host. The whole Christ is sacramentally present we “receive all the fruit of Eucharistic grace”
Our Cathedral of Christ the King family is a very large parish. We need your help! We need many hands to enable all who choose to receive Holy Communion under both species in fulfillment of the Lord’s command to “take and eat … take and drink.” So often we hear, "Not me! I am not worthy to distribute Holy Communion." If you think that, you are correct! None of us are worthy on our own. We admit that before every Communion when we pray together, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof. But only say the word and my soul shall be healed." Jesus makes us worthy, when we pray the Penitential Act at the beginning of Mass (forgives venial sins we bring to mind) and through Confession (for mortal and venial sins). Do not let this sort of false humility keep you away from serving Jesus through your service to the people of God in this ministry.
As laity, we are called to assist in serving the Holy Eucharist, so it can be distributed in an orderly and reverent manner. We do not have enough ordinary ministers, priests, bishops or deacons to supply the need at every Mass. This is a beautiful ministry and it’s a privilege to serve.
WE Need YOU as Extraordinary Minister!
Just a few requirements:
You may serve in only ONE ministry at the same Mass in keeping with Bishop John’s guidance.
All Extraordinary Ministers (existing and new): schoolteachers, church ministers: ministers to the sick, home bound, or assisted living please come to ONE training so I may get a correct list of names of who will be serving in this beautiful ministry. I will need to submit these names to the bishop’s office for required commissioning.
